What a support worker helps with
A support worker helps with the parts of the day you'd like a hand with. That can be:
- Personal care: showering, dressing and grooming, done the way you prefer.
- Help at home: cleaning, laundry, shopping and meals.
- Getting out in the community: appointments, shopping, activities and seeing friends.
- Learning new skills: doing more yourself, at your own pace.
Your worker follows your support plan, and works alongside your family and your health and therapy team.
Matched to you
Before supports start, we ask what matters to you in a worker, and match with that in mind:
- Gender. Tell us if you'd prefer a male or female worker.
- Language and culture. We look for a worker who speaks your language or shares your background, where we can.
- Interests. Someone who enjoys what you enjoy makes outings and time at home easier.
- Personality. Calm and quiet, or chatty and outgoing: tell us what suits you.
We aim for the same familiar faces each week. If something isn't working, tell us and we'll talk about a change.
